Stripping down
Before even having a combi, my partner carefully put side many small
empty pots of baby food, dried milk boxes, the small plastic dishes with
their lids, etc. Only one watchword, not to throw empty boxes more.
All that was extremely useful to me to arrange, classify, file the
various parts of the combis.
Then, it is simple: the element to be dismounted is photographed under
all the sides, (more than 700 photographys for the disassembling of a
bus), then it is dismounted and filed with its screws. When I say
"then it is dismounted", I could say: "after hours of fight with seized up bolts, the fingers in blood, and at the edge of the attack of nerves...". My best friends for the meetings of disassembling: a bomb of
releasing, and a batch of chisels, which will be used never again to
shear wood ! (see tools section).
All the ceiling is covered with an infamous layer of adhesive neoprene
and foam which my partner and me will scrape during several hours. All is tested: acetone, bus with the sun during days, super thinner. We were poisoned, we were burned, but the adhesive is always there...
Stripping down second bus
My brother helps me. It is to better be two for certain operations of
disassembling.
One delicate moment: windows. We spends half an hour for the first, fifteen minutes for the second, and two minutes for the last.
The disassembling of the dashboard and the electric components required
many drawings for the location of wires.
