Welding the roof
Wood props maintain the structures of the combis during the change of
the reinforcements. It is not sure that they are really necessary, but
in the doubt...
Before the welding of the reinforcements, the parts of the amount and
reinforcement which will be in contact are treated with copper. The
reinforcements were treated, interior and external.
After many checks distances and heights between the reinforcements and
the structure, one carries out welding. Not to have a roof anymore allows
an in-depth treatment of the higher amounts of the bus, and hollow
bodies.
Positioned back of the electric cables which pass in the
reinforcements.
The roof initially is pointed, then welded in points of chain. Then,
the weldings are ground, in order to find round origin. It is an
exhausting work, and my grinding machine will return the heart.
A second pass of welding on all the lathe of the roof takes
place, always in point of chain. Then once again, the weldings should
be ground. It is a titanic work, and for the first time, I am really
discouraged. Fortunately, my brother will help me, and we will succeed
in finishing the second turn of bus. The weldings are tight, round
weldings between the roof and the gutter is uniform, the bet is
won !
